Movies for Father’s Day-image

Father’s Day is this month. In order to celebrate, we’ve decided to share with our One East Tucson apartment community some movies with fatherhood as a central theme in this week’s blog. Fathers come in all shapes and sizes, but all deserve to be celebrated and loved! Watch these movies with your father if you have the chance. Big Daddy “Thirty-two-year-old Sonny Koufax (Adam Sandler) has spent his whole life avoiding responsibility. But when his girlfriend dumps him for an older man, he's got to find a way to prove he's ready to grow up. In a desperate last-ditch effort, Sonny adopts 5-year-old Julian (Dylan Sprouse), (Cole Sprouse) to impress her. She's not impressed ... and he can't return the kid. Uh-oh for Sonny!” We Bought a Zoo “Following his wife's untimely death, Los Angeles journalist Benjamin Mee (Matt Damon) decides to make a fresh start by quitting his job and moving his children (Colin Ford, Maggie Elizabeth Jones) to an 18-acre property containing the Rosemoor Wildlife Park. Though closed for years, Rosemoor is still home to many animals, cared for by Kelly Foster (Scarlett Johansson) and her small staff. Mee opens his heart and his checkbook as he, Kelly and the others work to renovate and reopen the zoo.” The Pursuit of Happyness “Chris Gardner (Will Smith) is a bright and talented, but marginally employed salesman. Struggling to make ends meet, Gardner finds himself and his five-year-old son evicted from their San Francisco apartment with nowhere to go. When Gardner lands an internship at a prestigious stock brokerage firm, he and his son endure many hardships, including living in shelters, in pursuit of his dream of a better life for the two of them.”   Do you have any father related movies you enjoy watching? Stay Cool this June-image

The weather is warmer than other states here in Tucson, AZ, and the summers can get sweltering almost to a point of unbearability. In order to keep yourself safe and cool through the hot summers, we’ve decided to share some tips on how to stay cool in this week’s One East Tucson Blog! Water One of the best ways to keep cool is to ensure that your body is hydrated. Water is the perfect liquid to do just that. As you are hydrated, your body will be able to compensate for the external heat your body is experiencing by perspiring (sweating). Keep a bottle of water handy so you can maintain that hydration throughout the day. Even if you don’t think you need to drink water, you probably should because it’s hot! Clothing What you wear will have a profound effect on how you will feel during the day. Since the summer is hot, we suggest choosing clothing that is not only light but breathable as well! Fabrics like linen and cotton do the job well. Since fit is so important, we recommend a looser fit so can have mobility and breathability! There are plenty of fashionable lightweight clothing out there, so keep your eye out for some good pieces to add to your wardrobe. Stay Inside One of the best ways to keep cool is to not get hot at all! Staying inside is a good alternative to going out into the extreme heat. While indoors, you can use the time you have to, declutter your wardrobe, clean your apartment, or even take a nap! Make use of your apartment’s air conditioning to keep cool! If you have to go out, use every opportunity to walk inside buildings to escape the hot heat of Arizona.   Do you have any ways you keep cool? Share them with our community so that we could keep cool as well! Thanks for reading!

March is Women's History Month, where it celebrates the various strong women who have made an impact on the world and the history of women's involvement in changing the course of history. In this week’s One East Tucson Blog, we’ve got a few movies that feature strong women for you to enjoy in the month of March! 10 Things I Hate About You “Kat Stratford (Julia Stiles) is beautiful, smart and quite abrasive to most of her fellow teens, meaning that she doesn't attract many boys. Unfortunately for her younger sister, Bianca (Larisa Oleynik), house rules say that she can't date until Kat has a boyfriend, so strings are pulled to set the dour damsel up for a romance. Soon Kat crosses paths with handsome new arrival Patrick Verona (Heath Ledger). Will Kat let her guard down enough to fall for the effortlessly charming Patrick?” Mulan “Fearful that her ailing father will be drafted into the Chinese military, Mulan (Ming-Na Wen) takes his spot -- though, as a girl living under a patriarchal regime, she is technically unqualified to serve. She cleverly impersonates a man and goes off to train with fellow recruits. Accompanied by her dragon, Mushu (Eddie Murphy), she uses her smarts to help ward off a Hun invasion, falling in love with a dashing captain along the way.” The Devil Wears Prada “Andy is a recent college graduate with big dreams. Upon landing a job at prestigious Runway magazine, she finds herself the assistant to diabolical Miranda Priestly. Andy questions her ability to survive her grim tour as Miranda's whipping girl without getting scorched. Based on the novel by Lauren Weisberger.” Enjoy these movies of strong independent women for Women's History Month! Keeping Things Organized-image

Your apartment is your home, the place you come back to at the end of the day. It should be a stress-free environment. One way to help keep your home stress-free, or less stressful is by keeping it organized. In this week’s One East Tucson Blog, we’ve got some tips for how to keep your Tucson, AZ apartment organized! Clean your Home Cleaning your apartment is the best place to start with keeping it organized. As you’re clearing the dust, vacuuming your floors, and making your bed, you can evaluate how neat or messy your home is. As your home gets cleaner, you’re more likely to want to keep it organized and well-kept. Multi-Purpose Organizers Our apartments have a lot of space, but perhaps not quite as much as a three-story home, so it’s important to have storage and organizers that double as other things to save space. Invest in ottomans or vertical storage to give your apartment more room, this way, you can hide any bulky or unsightly items in your home. Ottomans double as a seat for guests and can store comfort items like pillows and blankets.    Declutter In our busy lives, it’s normal to have things scattered around. Bills, junk mail, and other loose-leaf papers pile up quickly if you don’t stay on top of discarding them. Take the time to go through your apartment and pinpoint things you don’t need or want and put them aside to be thrown away or donated. You may be surprised how much clutter you have in your home. Take stock of what you’re hanging on to that you don’t really need. Generally, if you haven’t used items in a year(except perhaps seasonal things), you’re probably not going to use them again. You may have functioning items you wish to remove from your home, so consider donating them to thrift stores or homeless shelters so they can be repurposed! What are your best tips for keeping your apartment organized? Let us know in the comments. Thanks for reading our post today.
